Simulation on EU-Turkey relations

 

Call for applications

CIFE invites interested students to participate in a two-day simulation of a Meeting of the European Council tackling the future of Europe with a special focus on EU-Turkish relations.
The simulation takes place in the framework of the HORIZON2020 Project FEUTURE.

The following topics will be on the Agenda:

Internal and External Dimension of Migration 
• Is the EU-Turkey-Agreement still appropriate or does it need to be revised? 
• Can it be seen as a blueprint for other neighbouring countries?
Enlargement
• Should the EU adjust its enlargement policy in response to recent developments in Turkey?
• Are the EU institutions ready for further enlargement?

36 participants (maximum) will represent 12 actors (the Presidency of the European Council and 11 Member States) and engage in a debate about the future of relations between the European Union and Turkey in particular.

The simulation will take place at CIFE in Nice on 9 and 10 January 2019. The working language is English.

The simulation is organised by CIFE in the framework of the HORIZON2020 Project FEUTURE and realised in cooperation with www.planpolitik.de
Travel costs of the participants within a reasonable limit can be reimbursed after prior concertation.

Please note: An introductory Online Webinar (duration 30 to 45 min) with all participants will take place on 11.12.2018 and is a compulsory part of the simulation game. 

Start of the online negotiations on 3 January 2019
In-person negoation phase in Nice on 9 and 10 January 2019.

Participants will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the simulation.

Pre-selected candidates will be contacted for an interview on 7 December 2018 in the afternoon.
