Master in Advanced European and International Studies (MAEIS) 2016/17

The Institut européen·European Institute (IE·EI) invites graduate students to apply for its Master's programme 2016/17. The “Master in Advanced European and International Studies” (MAEIS) offers an overarching, encompassing vision of the political, social, economic, and cultural problems of today´s modern world. The courses are taught by renowned academics from various European countries, as well as experts from research institutions and practitioners from international organisations. They offer a multi-faceted view on Europe and give students the opportunity to discuss the achievements and problems of Europe and to develop ways to handle them.

One programme – three branches

The Master's programme is subdivided into three branches:

  • The Trilingual branch (teaching languages are English, French, and German) in Nice, Canterbury and Berlin, as well as a one week stay at our partner university in Rostock: from October 2016 to December 2017 (120 ECTS).
  • The Mediterranean branch (working languages: English, French) in Nice, Tunis and Istanbul: from October 2016 to July 2017 (60 ECTS).
  • The Anglophone branch (working language is exclusively English) in Istanbul, Berlin and Nice from October 2016 to July 2017 (60 ECTS).


    Subject Areas:
    International Relations, European Integration, Economy and Globalisation, Federalism and Governance + Project Management (for the trilingual and Anglophone branches).
    Conflict Management and Peace Making, Sustainable development and Climate Action, Regional integration and transformation, Mediterranean Politics and Societies Project Management (for the Mediterranean branch).

    The trilingual and the Anglophone branch organise a study trip to the European and international organisations in Strasbourg, Luxembourg and Brussels. A limited number of scholarship funds are awarded to particularly qualified candidates to cover some of the costs of their studies and/or their accommodation.
    The IE·EI diplomas (60 ECTS) are awarded in cooperation with its partners, among them Istanbul Bilgi University, the Univeristy of Kent, the Université international de Tunis, the University of Rostock, and the Institut für Europäische Politik in Berlin.
